The Faroese Road Safety Council

The Faroese Road Safety Council is an organisation working for road safety in the Faroe Islands. Founded in 1976 the Councils members represent public and municipal authorities as well as NGOs and private organisations and companies.

The purpose of the Road Safety Council is to increase road safety through information and education of the public. This work is organised through campaigns, education, information and production of instruction materials.

The work is based on the Vision Zero manifested in the documents “Towards the Vision Zero” (2003) and the “Road Safety Plan” (2019).

The Council’s work is mainly funded by support from the Faroese Government and the two Faroese insurance companies Betri and Trygd.
